Chicago Life: Places I Want To Eat

Since I live in Chicago and am a huge foodie, restaurants are definitely something I am going to explore during my time here. Last summer, I tried a lot of different places that I loved, but there are still a ton more I have listed in my notes. I thought I’d share some of the places I want to try! If you have any recommendations for must-try spots, please comment because I’d love to go! 🙂

Last Trip To Bloomington

On Tuesday I took my last trip to Bloomington for awhile. Bloomington is where I went to college the last 4 years and it was time to finish emptying out my apartment and move out for good. It is definitely bittersweet because I love Bloomington and had the best college experience, but I really hated my apartment. My boyfriend was also getting the last of his belongings from his house so we made an afternoon of the trip so we could have fun, rather than just move out.

Moving out was kind of fun and challenging because we had to fit everything in his small car. We had planned on taking a different car, but when we got to his house we found that someone else had taken it for the day. Lucky for us, we managed to get everything in there after a few Goodwill runs.

Aside from moving we got coffee at Hopscotch Coffee which I had never tried. We always go to Soma Coffeehouse but it was closed for the day on Tuesday– the perfect opportunity to try something new. I got a matcha latte and Connor got a salted caramel latte.

After an early morning at day camp, it was exactly what we needed. Other than coffee, we got a late lunch (or early dinner) at Ami, my favorite restaurant in Bloomington. It is a sushi place and on Tuesday’s it is 30 percent off, so it was our lucky day. I got a futomaki roll and a sweet potato roll (my favorite), which I devoured immediately.

After dinner, we stopped to see Connor’s grandmother before heading home. We are moving next week so it was good to see her before the big move. Overall, it was a nice and productive afternoon. I love how Bloomington will always feel like home and familiar to me, even when I am not living there. I am excited to go back sometime this year for football game and to get together with my college friends. I am definitely going to miss Bloomington, especially the restaurants, but I am excited to be moving back to another city I love.

May Favorites

May just ended so I wanted to share some of my favorite things from this month! May was a big month as I graduated and started my part time job! I am really excited for June and the rest of the summer, but for now, here are some of the things that made up my May!

  1. Chacos- I never liked Chacos until I owned them. I thought they were sort of ugly, but I have found them super practical and good for summer.
  2. Harvest Snaps- My favorite snack right now. I love the original flavor, but you really can’t go wrong with the tomato basil flavor either.
  3. Dunkin’ Donuts- Because I have been getting up at 5am every day for work, I have been exhausted in the afternoon. Dunkin’ Donuts has become my best friend on some days when I need a pick me up. I get a small hazelnut iced coffee with almond milk! I always go after 12pm so it is “happy hour” making the coffee very inexpensive.
  4. Health Code podcast- One of my favorite YouTubers, Sarah’s Day makes this podcast each week and I love hearing her funny stories and health tips.
  5. Songs: Solo (Clean Bandit and Demi Lovato), Fly Over States (Jason Aldean), Beautiful Crazy (Luke Combs), Quarter Past Midnight (Bastille)
  6. Olivia Jade on YouTube- I love her vlogs, so I would definitely recommend checking them out!
  7. Chocolate soft serve with sprinkles- I have this way too often, usually 1-2 times per week, but its summer and ice cream is a must.
  8. Biking- One of my favorite things to do on a summer day. Its a great way to get exercise, run errands, or hang out with friends.
  9. Famous in Love- I binged this show way too fast in May. I am hoping for a third season because season 2 ended with quite the cliffhanger.
  10. The Kissing Booth- I went through a phase this month where I only watched movies about high school and this one was really good! It is on Netflix so you should watch it if you like cute movies.

3 Year Blogging Anniversary

It’s been a few days since my last post– I was posting pretty frequently last week but took the weekend to relax with friends and family! I also started my part time job on Tuesday so I was trying to figure that out. But I’m here with a new post on this gloomy Wednesday.

On May 25th, WordPress notified me that it was my blog’s 3 year anniversary. I feel like that is kind of excited. I started this blog as a way to share some of my ideas and just be creative in some way. I didn’t have a plan for how long I would use it or if I would keep up with it. But I’m really happy that I have. I love writing, even if it’s not the best or full of the most interesting stories. I have gotten to read and learn about the other bloggers I follow too, which I really enjoy.

I don’t really think my blog has changed over the years very much. Initially, I think I was trying to find more positivity in my life, so that was a huge part of my blog. Today, I don’t feel like I need to find that anymore, as positivity is a huge part of my daily life. I am thankful my blog helped me become a more positive person.

Looking to the future of my blog– I see many more years of blogging ahead. I am about to embark on a whole new part of my life and I will have lessons, stories, and fun adventures to share (probably some food and restaurants too). I can’t wait to see where I am with blogging next May!

My Favorite Podcasts

Here with a short post today! These are some of my favorite podcasts!

  1. The Health Code
  2. The Advanced Selling Podcast
  3. Getting Curious
  4. In The Arena

Some are more educational, some are more fun, and others are both! I am definitely into podcasts that are helpful for my professional life or my health. But sometimes I just like to listen to interesting conversation and not have to focus so much on the actual content.

What podcasts do you listen to? I listen to these all the time so I’m definitely looking for some new ones to add to the mix.
