As promised last week, my first Miami post is here! There will be a second post recapping Day 2 of the trip, so I can provide as much detail as possible. Connor booked us a trip to Miami as my Christmas present this year. We left Friday after work, but the flight ended up getting delayed until after 11pm, so we arrived to our hotel in Miami so late (like 5am!!). We opted to fly to Fort Lauderdale instead of Miami to save money on the flight (it is SO much cheaper and only a 30 minute Uber ride to South Beach, Miami).
The hotel we stayed at is called the Chesterfield Hotel and it is located on Collins Avenue in South Beach. It is less than a 5 minute walk to the beach, so it is a perfect spot. It also has a cute little bar in lobby, so we always get mojitos there. Overall, I would recommend this hotel if you want to stay in South Beach.
Because we got in so late, we decided to sleep in a little bit, but we still managed a pretty early start. The first thing we did on Saturday was get smoothie bowls at Dreamer Miami. Dreamer was SO cute. The overall theme was very colorful and flowery. I loved it. I got a Lotus bowl (dragonfruit) and Connor got the Namaste bowl (açaí). I also tried one of the matcha drinks. After smoothies, we decided to go to the beach to hang out for a few hours. The weather was sunny and breezy, so it was a perfect day for the beach.
After enjoying the sunshine, we got ready to go to a late lunch at La Perrada de Edgar in the North Beach area. We had been to this spot once before and Connor loves it, so we decided to go back. I got the veggie dog and Connor got one of the other specialty hot dogs. There are so many choices inspired by different cuisines which is super fun! After lunch we headed back to South Beach. We grabbed espressos at Las Olas Cafe which is about a 5 minute walk from our hotel, and one of our go-to spots in Miami.
After hanging out at the hotel a bit, we headed out for the night. We started the night at Bodega which is a taco and tequila restaurant. It seemed to be pretty popular because it was really crowded. We got margaritas, elotes, and queso to share. Connor and I ended up sharing table with 2 girls from DC, so it was a fun way to meet people. After eating, we headed to the speakeasy in the back of Bodega. It was really nice and open. There were a bunch of specialty drinks, so we each tried one before moving on to the next bar.
We spent the rest of our night in Wynwood. Wynwood is my favorite part of Miami, so I was so happy to go back. We explored and walked around bit before we stopped at Miami Mojito Company. Miami Mojito Company is one of my favorite places in Miami. It is a little bar that only has mojitos. It has a ton of different flavor options which is really fun. I like the classic and raspberry options the best. Connor and I sat there for a while drinking our mojitos and hanging out.
Afterwards, we continued walking around. We checked out the Wynwood Marketplace and a little area that had some food trucks/vendors, but then decided to call it a night. Saturday was an overall relaxing and fun day in Miami. We didn’t have a whole lot planned for this trip because we have been a few times, so it was nice to see where the day took us.
