It is my 24th birthday, so it is tradition for me to list some of the things I learned! 23 was a great year for a few reasons: I settled into my life in Chicago a lot more, I traveled more than ever, and I found happiness in each day. Here are 23 things I learned at 23!
- Chicago is home!!
- I love greeting cards a little too much.
- I don’t love flying late at night, but I keep doing it.
- I would love to live in Arizona.
- My coworkers are my best friends and have made my life in Chicago so much better.
- Being happy and positive translates to better work.
- I don’t want to waste all of my time watching TV, but maybe YouTube (just kidding, but I love it).
- People in Chicago don’t smile back, but I will keep smiling at them.
- Oat milk is the BEST milk. It makes matcha so creamy and yummy.
- I wear the same thing every week and I don’t care about clothes nearly as much as I used to.
- I wish I liked cooking, but I don’t (Hello Fresh makes it a little better).
- I don’t have time for anyone who excludes others.
- Write down compliments you are given. You may be asked that question in a job interview someday.
- You control your happiness and attitude.
- It is important to slow down and not rush so much.
- It is so important to establish a good routine. It makes you more productive and gives you more time back in your day for you π
- It is easy to feel like an imposter in certain situations, especially when you are young, but you should always work to be confident in who you are and your work.
- Thoughtful actions, notes, etc. go a long way.
- You don’t need recognition to be or know you are successful.
- It is important to notice the little things that brighten your day.
- You need to take time to rest and recharge. Life can be busy and I know I always want to be exploring, doing fun things, and working on all of my hobbies, but sometimes you just need to take a break.
- I may have a slight skincare routine (Yay!!! Shoutout to Glossier and Cocokind)
- If you want to do something, you should do it. Take meaningful steps toward it every day or even every week. I heard on a podcast that if you want to do something, you should count down from 5 and then do it (Shoutout to “What We Said”).
Happy birthday!!!! π Hope you have a wonderful day. This is a great list!

Aw love this list! Especially #12. I made a similar list when I turned 24! I love looking back and reflecting on it to make sure I’m still on the track I want to be on. Happy belated birthday!!
